In celebration of Rosh Hashana, ILC Executive Director Shoham Nicolet delivered Shana Tova cards and gift baskets filled with goods to the volunteers who came from Los Angeles and will soon join the IDF.
The lone soldiers joined the IDF through Garin Tzabar, a program that provides assistance and transitional support to American men and women who have chosen to join the Israeli army.
Stationed in Kibbutz Kinneret and Malkiya, the soldiers are currently training to serve in the IDF. This year, 260 youth from all over the United States left their homes this summer to become “lone soldiers”; 56 of them from Los Angeles.
Shana Tova cards were signed and personalized by ILC members and guests at an event held by the ILC. The ILC also coordinated an exciting evening for the soon-to-be soldiers in Jerusalem. The group attended the impressive Kochav Nolad (“Israeli Idol”) final concert, which broke the Israeli TV ratings record.
This project was part of the NETINA campaign that the ILC has embarked on to show appreciation and support to the American youth who have made the brave and honorable decision to join the IDF.
