On Tuesday, July 27, the ILC hosted a Members’ Breakfast at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. The ILC was proud to have its guest speakers, President of Tel Aviv University Professor Joseph Klafter, and Major General (res.) Uzi Dayan, engage in an intimate conversation with ILC members.
Professor Klafter began the morning lecture with “New Frontiers in Biophysics: Looking at Single Molecules”. In a show of appreciation for Professor Klafter’s achievements, ILC Board Member Emeritus Steve Erdman presented Professor Klafter with an award for his dedication to academic excellence, and for advancing higher education to ensure a better future for the State of Israel. The ILC also thanks American Friends of Tel Aviv University for the opportunity to host Professor Klafter.
Before beginning his lecture, Maj. Gen. Dayan motioned for a brief moment of silence in honor of the six Israeli Air Force officers who tragically died in Romania. Afterward, Dayan led a discussion on “Israel’s Critical Security Needs for a Viable Peace,” further discussing current events and their implications for Israel. Dayan emphasized Israel’s critical mission to connect Israelis living in the Diaspora to Israel and to develop them into a strategic asset for the country. At the conclusion of Dayan’s discussion, ILC Co-Chair Eli Tene presented an award to Dayan for his contributions and endless commitment to the security of the State of Israel.
