6/9/2010 12:39:02 PM
In honor of Yom Ha’Shoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Shevet Chen held a tekes, or ceremony, at the JCC with over 140 attendants to remember those who perished.
Over 150 Tzofim members attended a Yom Ha’Zikaron ceremony held by Shevet Chen and MATI. The powerful event brought together many Israeli families who had the opportunity to commemorate as a community the fallen IDF soldiers.
In celebration of Israel’s Independence Day, the Tzofim participated in the Israeli Festival at Woodley Park. In a booth dedicated to Gilad Shalit, Shevet Chen sold special t-shirts of Gilad that they themselves designed. They were able to raise over $2,000 in sales, which was all donated to the Fund dedicated for the release of Gilad Shalit.
Shevet Harel participated in the community Yom Ha’Shouah ceremony at Pan Pacific Park. Representatives of the Shevet Many of the children volunteered to help escort the elderly to their seats, while two kids from the group arrived early in the morning to walk with Holocaust survivors to their family’s gravesite.
