On Tuesday, February 2nd, the ILC proudly hosted renowned philanthropist and business tycoon, Haim Saban, along with iconic journalist and talk show host, Larry King, who conducted an on-stage interview with Saban. Over 100 ILC members attended the event, which took place at the Carlyle on Wilshire Boulevard. Guests enjoyed fine hors d’oeuvres, champagne, and a dessert reception on the
patio of the Carlyle.
During the interview, Saban provided insight into the nancial crisis, Israel-U.S. relations, and his vision for the Israeli-American community. Saban, who was born in Egypt and is listed by Business Week as one of the top 50 philanthropists in the world, was cleverly referred to by Larry King as a “modern day Moses.” After the interview, King opened the oor to guests, who were given a chance to ask Saban their own questions.
The ILC Board presented Haim Saban with an award recognizing his invaluable support and commitment to the community and the State of Israel. Larry King also received an award from the ILC in recognition of his work in the field of broadcasting and for setting the standard for journalistic integrity.
The ILC would like to give special thanks to Board Members Dafna and Eli Tene for their help in facilitating the event; the Carlyle on Wilshire for the ne venue; and to Eli Bar and his team. A warm thank you to ILC Member Oded Krashinsky for providing security for the evening.
