Some "Israeli" Food for Thought
9/22/2009 5:46:02 PM
The ILC hosted an evening of modern Jewish
thought with LimmudLA at the home of Dr. Nissan and Carmella Pardo. The event
gave attendants an “Israeli taste” of LimmudLA, an organization dedicated to
providing conversations about Judaism in an engaging and sociable manner.
Throughout the night, speakers conducted discussions with the guests. Speakers
included: Rabbi Daniel Bouskila of Tiferet Israel Synagogue; Elan Carr, a
Criminal Prosecutor and Military Officer; Elliot Dorff, a distinguished Professor
of Philosophy at AJU; Lorin Fife, Chairman of the Jewish Community Foundation; and
Marcie Kaufman, a Professor of Art and Art Program Director of the LA/TA
Partnership of the Jewish Federation. Attendants were engaged in thought-provoking
and challenging discussions as they split into different sessions according to
their interest of topic. Topics ranged from Jewish Law, to Jewish content in
Israeli Art to Medicine and Jewish Ethics.
